A Quiet Win (and What Comes Next)

Book Award Announcement

There are moments in writing that feel loud.
And then there are the quieter onesโ€”the ones that land a little more softly, but settle deeper

Recently, However Much or Little received recognition through the Firebird Book Awards.
And Iโ€™ve been sitting with that for a bit.

Because if Iโ€™m honest, the feeling isnโ€™t just excitement. Itโ€™s a mix of pride, disbelief, and a strange kind of stillness that comes after you hit a milestone youโ€™ve been quietly working toward.

Writing can be like that.

You spend months (or years) building something in the background. Scene by scene. Chapter by chapter. Hoping it connects with someone, somewhere.

And then one day, it doesโ€”just in a way you didnโ€™t necessarily expect.

What this recognition means to me isnโ€™t just the award itself.

Itโ€™s the reminder that the stories we pour ourselves into matter.

Even when theyโ€™re still finding their way to readers.
Even when growth feels slower than weโ€™d like.
Even when it feels like weโ€™re building something quietly, without a lot of noise around it.

So Iโ€™m taking this as both a moment to pauseโ€ฆ and a moment to keep going.

Over the next little while, Iโ€™ll be sharing a few things:

a short audio feature with Firebird Radio
a guest blog post on writing and world-building
and, of course, more stories from Ashby Lake

If you havenโ€™t visited yet, Ashby Lake is a place built on connectionโ€”messy, layered, sometimes complicated, and always rooted in the people who call it home.

And Iโ€™m really glad youโ€™re here for it.

Perfect for readers who love messy chemistry, emotional maturity, and romance forged under pressure.
