WELCOME TO

Goat Haven

Goats are chaos with hooves. Fortunately, the Munroes consider that part of the charm.

22 Harvest Lane · Agricultural District · Fictional Ashby Lake, Ontario

A Little Crooked. Completely Welcoming.

Goat Haven is Luna and Orion Munroe’s warm, chaotic hobby farm in the Agricultural District of fictional Ashby Lake, Ontario. Sixteen goats behave like deeply codependent drama queens, sheep gather beneath an old apple tree, and handmade soap, dyed yarn, goat cheese, herbs, bread, art supplies, music, food, and family noise overlap everywhere.

It is also Gillian Munroe’s childhood home: the place where her old art studio waits at the edge of the property and where wounded people tend to be absorbed—sometimes aggressively—into warmth, laughter, work, food, animals, and belonging.

Life at Goat Haven

The farmhouse is warm and eccentric, centred on a sunshine-yellow kitchen filled with garlic braids, drying herbs, mason jars, clay bowls, books, paintbrushes, mismatched dishes, and spontaneous hospitality.

Outside, paths wander between the goat barn, sheep pasture, slightly crooked greenhouse, herb garden, soap shed, Gillian’s studio, and backyard bonfire area. An old apple tree shades the sheep. A stone path laid by teenage Gillian still crosses the property. The fence leans a little. The goats monitor every arrival.

The farm produces handmade soaps—including Aries Awakening and Moonrise Sage—along with goat cheese, yarn, bread, herbal tea, and an assortment of fermented, pickled, baked, or otherwise enthusiastically homemade food.

Sabriana, a delighted visitor connected to Goat Haven
Sabriana arrives as Gillian’s guest and is magnificently overwhelmed by the goats—especially theatrical Meryl and pregnant Starlight.

Gillian’s Studio

At the edge of Goat Haven stands Gillian’s childhood art studio, preserved while she is away. Inside are her easel, scratched desk, old paint-stiff apron, and workbench, along with familiar traces of linseed oil, citrus incense, and ambition. It is one of the farm’s quietest spaces—and one of its most emotionally important.

Goat Haven in the Ashby Lake Stories

Goat Haven first appears in the unfinished Ink in the Water, which takes place before Ashby Lake After Dark: Rosa. It is Gillian’s childhood home and a place of safety, recovery, art, family, and new connection. Because the manuscript is still in progress, plot outcomes and final relationship milestones are not treated as settled here.

Rosa later establishes Goat Haven as part of Ashby Lake’s paranormal world, connecting Luna, Orion, Gillian, and the goats to the wider Ashby Lake After Dark cast.

Nearby in the Agricultural District

Goat Haven sits on Harvest Lane near Mr. Griggs Feed & Farm Supply at 18 Harvest Lane. Deeper into the agricultural landscape, Ward Wines occupies its vineyard and stone estate at 84 Winery Road. The Farmer’s Market is another natural connection for Ashby Lake’s local makers, though Goat Haven’s exact market schedule has not yet been established.
